colour paints painting scenes surrounding the lake. They were great artists.
Had a great bus driver transfer myself, and 9 other Aussies, from Heathrow Airport to our different hotels. He advised us of all the do's and don'ts in London and gave some great advice about different London things.
When I arrived at my hotel, I was advised by a very gorgeous Spanish man named Ignacio, that my room was not going to be ready until 3pm - I had arrived at 8am. He spoke to me in Spanish and, like most Spaniards, spoke very, very fast. I had to give up and ask him to please speak to me in English because he spoke too fast.
So I left my luggage at the hotel and took myself off for a walk to Regent's Park. It looked closer on the map! As I had nowhere to go until my 11-11:30am appointment at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, I wandered the park in the gorgeous sunshine.
Had my first squirrel encounter. It was so cute that I had to remind myself that it was a rodent and not to pat it! I later saw three more.
My first London meal was a pizza and a Coke at a cafe beside the lake. I also met a group of 5 seniors sitting with their water
favourite drink in there - Canada Dry Ginger Ale!!! I was in heaven!!! Since the last time I had this drink was when I went to Chile in 2009, I savoured every mouthful.
I then made my way to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. I was a little disappointed. It was my luck that two buses full of Indian tourists had entered before me so it was a push-and-shove affair for everyone. Not only was it crowded, but it wasn't that spectacular - some of the figures didn't even look like the real celebrities - Zach Effron from High School Musical looks downright scary!
After Madame's, it was such a gorgeous day and was too early to check-in at the hotel, so I went back to Regent's Park and toured Queen Mary's Garden. Absolutely beautiful English garden. Too bad that not all of the roses were in bloom.
It was then time to check-in at the hotel. When I was inside my room, I collapsed on the bed, absolutely exhausted. I felt awful too as I had not had a shower or brushed my teeth since leaving Melbourne! I felt instantly better when I opened the mini-fridge and found my all-time
I feel really at home here in London, which surprises me. I thought I'd feel like a tourist, but I knew exactly where I was going and what I was going to do. I think it hasn't hit me yet that I am actually in London. Maybe when I take the full London tour tomorrow this will change.
Before freshening up, I made my way down the street to a convenience store named Tesco (open 24-hours) that Sam, the bus drive recommended to be the cheapest, and bought some Naive water - Evian.
All in all,
So now it will be early to bed and early to rise as tomorrow I have a 7:30am pick-up for my London Experience tour. Plus, I am totally wrecked.
