Weather: Overcast, cold.
It was another early start for our trip up to Banff. Our tour director played Willie Nelson's "On The Road Again" for us at the start of our journey.
Our first stop was at a place called Craigellachie which is the site where the last spike of the Trans Canadian Railroad was hammered in. Learned that Canada relies heavily on this railroad system for their freight - not many trucks on the roads. Some trains have four engines and up to 21 containers. Extremely looooong trains.
Our next stop was at a place called Three Valley Lake - Eagle Pass. We stopped here to get something to eat and take lunch with us on the bus as there wasn't going to be another stop where we could have something decent to eat until Banff.
Our final toilet stop was at a Tim Horton's cafe and we could take photos of The Rockies.
As we finally made our way on the highway again, we managed to see two moose (mum and baby) along the highway fence - the highway is fenced off to protect animals. There are strategically placed bridges for the animals to cross the highway. This was done because of all the road kill found daily.
Further up the highway, two elk were happily grazing along the fence.

After our meal, Marilyn and I headed off to discover Banff. As it was the long weekend, there were a lot of people out.
I really enjoyed Banff. It isn't a ski resort like Whistler was but Banff has an actual litle town feel. Every now and then, you'd hear the toot of the trains. Everywhere you look, Banff is surrounded by the Rockies. There isn't a window in town that doesn't have a view of one mountain or another.
Oh, how could I have mixed up the Vancouver North Shore mountains with the Rockies!! How ignorant of me! When you see the magnificant views, nothing compares!
